Lancer RPG Template
A downloadable template
Like Lancer’s GMS Everest, this template package is designed as a simple and versatile tool for those beginning to create Lancer content under the Lancer Third Party License. It includes formats and styles intended to echo the aesthetic seen in the Lancer Core Book, allowing third party creators to publish polished content with a similar theme.
The ZIP package provides Microsoft Word .dotx templates which contain the following:
- Table styles for quickly creating homebrew mechs, NPCs, and equipment
- Paragraph and character styles to easily follow Lancer's clean, futuristic layout
- A screen-reader friendly version of the template for accessible, print-friendly documents
- A color palette to easily reference the color scheme used in the Lancer Core Book
- A style guide for constructing missions, beats, and combat encounters
- Formatting for credits, clocks, sitreps, and more!
This package includes two templates: One optimized to work best with Microsoft Word, and another intended for use within Google Docs. Both of these .dotx templates are licensed under CC BY 4.0, which allows for sharing, derivative works, and commercial use with proper attribution. They are not guaranteed to work with other word processors, such as OpenOffice or LibreOffice.
Besides these templates, this package also provides the following fonts and graphics for convenience:
- The "Arimo" font package, included under the Apache License, Version 2.0, and the "Ubuntu Mono" font package, included under the Ubuntu Font License, both free for commercial use
- Two "Powered By Lancer" graphics and the "Lancer-Icons" font, included under the Lancer Third Party License
With these resources, I hope to make publishing professional Lancer third party content less daunting for those aiming to create new mechs, foes, missions, and adventure modules!
Lancer RPG Template is not an official Lancer product; it is a third party work, and is not affiliated with Massif Press. Lancer RPG Template is published via the Lancer Third Party License. Lancer is copyright Massif Press.

Howdy! I really appreciate you putting this together, it looks unbelievably good. I don't have access to MSWord unfortunately, but the Google Docs side seems to be working incredibly. The only issue I've run into is the Lancer Icons TTF file doesn't play with Docs since we can't import custom fonts.
Do you happen to know a work around for this? I'm thinking I could maybe convert them to a drawing and try to insert them manually, but I'm wondering if there's something simpler that I'm just not seeing.
Thank you again for this! I'm super excited to put something together with these templates <3
Hello! I’m glad that the Google Docs variant is serving you well. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a workaround to allow the Lancer Icons to work with Google Docs. Importing the icons as drawings could work for larger versions of the icons (e.g., role and size icons for mechs and NPCs). However, from my experiments, I could not get the drawings to shrink to a reasonable size for inline use (such as in weapons statblocks). You are welcome to try on your own, but right now my recommendation for inline use on GDocs is to type out the keywords and bold them instead of using the icons. Even several Lancer supplements opt to take this route!
In all, I hope you are able to find a solution that will satisfy your needs. I wish you the best with your creations!
Thank you for the quick and helpful reply! Yeah, it was specifically the inlines with weapon stat blocks that were my issue. It's a small thing to fret over, I'm plenty content with the rest! Just exploring the template in docs introduced me to a lot of clever techniques that I hadn't thought of in Docs before. Cheers!
Hey I have been trying to get the dotx files to work properly. Even when I can get them to load in Microsoft or convert them into another format, they do not have the correct images, font, and layout to them. What I am I doing wrong?
Thanks for picking up my template! If images and fonts are missing, please make sure that you’ve installed all the fonts from the Fonts_INSTALL_ME_FIRST.zip ZIP archive. Then, close and reopen Microsoft Word and open the .dotx template. Please let me know if the issue persists!
I enjoy providing handouts to my players that look professional and nicely formatted, and this template pack has been enormously helpful! The actual guidance it provides on how to use it is also an extremely nice touch. If you're interested in making third party homebrew for Lancer, or if you're just like me, then you'll definitely get a lot of value from this.
It brings me joy to hear this! I hope this template continues to serve you well!
