Update to 1.2.0!




1.2.0
Lots of changes: Revised some of the “Core 8”, gave the Hatchet a face lift, and incorporated feedback on the Occultist, Prism, Torrent, and Vulture. Also presenting a boatload of new optional rules to try at the table!
Note: The LCP has a BREAKING CHANGE for Ghost NPCs; consider saving a backup and deleting old Ghost NPCs from CompCon before installing this update. See the notes below for more details.
NPC Classes
Ghost
Phase Shift
- Changed to make the character Intangible before its first turn as well as during its turns.
Quantum Bond
- Change from a Full Action to a Quick Action.
- Reduce the Heat the bonded target takes to gain Phase Shift from 2 to 1.
Entangling Bond
- Replaced with Ghastly Vigor. This may break existing Ghost NPCs on Comp/Con, so save a backup before installing.
Ghastly Vigor
- New base trait! Lets the Ghost use Bolster, and grants difficulty on tech attacks against characters the Ghost Bolsters.
Hatchet
Hatchet Tactics
- Revised to reflect reworked base kit.
Monomolecular Throwing Axe
- Reduce base damage from 6/8/10 to 3/4/5.
- Add the following Effect:
“If the attacker is not ENGAGED, this weapon deals double damage (excluding bonus damage), and the target is SLOWED until the end of their next turn.”
Cleaving Retrieval
- Reworked! Now a Quick Action that allows the Hatchet to retrieve any Thrown weapon not used to attack this turn; if the weapon was adjacent to the Hatchet, the Hatchet pushes and damages a nearby character.
Flip Kick
- Reworked! Now allows the Hatchet to fly 3 spaces after retrieving a Thrown weapon.
Plasma Knife
- Now changes damage type of Cleaving Retrieval to energy damage.
Mesmerist
Memetic Magnetism
- Fix typos, reword second sentence to:
“On a hit, until the end of the target’s next turn, they take 2/3/4 Heat after performing a hostile action that doesn’t include the Mesmerist as a target.”
Napalm
Smolder Charges
- Change the last two sentences to:
“Attacks affected by this cover treat their target as INVISIBLE. The area lasts until the start of the Napalm’s next turn.”
Long-Burn Catalyst
- Change to only set the attack’s affected spaces on fire, not the adjacent spaces.
Occultist
FLOCK Drones
- Replace 2nd sentence with:
“While adjacent to a drone, allied characters gain soft cover and hostile characters take 1 Heat each time they take an action.”
Reap the Chaff
- Change from Quick Tech to Full Tech.
- Reword to:
“Target a controlled DRONE or allied GRUNT in SENSORS. Destroy them and apply these effects:
- Allied characters adjacent to the target gain OVERSHIELD 4/6/8 and clear one condition.
- Hostile characters adjacent to the target gain LOCK-ON and must pass an AGILITY save or become JAMMED until the end of their next turn.”
Prism
- Changed role from “Artillery/Defender” to “Defender/Artillery”.
- Reworded many of the Prism’s abilities to use “projector” instead of “projection”. This is intended to convey that the Prism’s holographic projection (which can be targeted) is separate from the device that is creating that projection (which is untargetable).
Prism Stats
- Increase HP from 14/17/20 to 15/18/21.
Prism Tactics
- Reworded to reflect name changes.
Prismatic Projector
- Renamed from Prismatic Projection to Prismatic Projector. The feature retains the same ID for backwards compatibility.
- Replaced all instances of “projection” with “projector”.
- Reworded the “occupation” rules in a clearer manner.
Diffraction Beam
- Change accuracy from +2/+4/+6 with +0 Accuracy to +1/+2/+3 with +1 Accuracy.
- Replaced all instances of “projection” with “projector”.
Double Vision
- Replaced all instances of “projection” with “projector”.
Shattered Glass
- Replaced all instances of “projection” with “projector”.
Torrent
Wavebreaker
- Condense effect. Remove the after-attack restriction on the self-push.
Storm Surge
- Reduce Recharge from 6+ to 5+.
Scalding Greywash
- Condense wording.
Wash Away
- Change effect to:
“Against PRONE characters, the Torrent may inflict KNOCKBACK in any direction.”
Roil
- Condense wording.
Crashing Tsunami
- Condense effect. Remove the after-attack restriction on the self-push. Reword reload effect.
Drown in Nanites
- Change from System to Trait.
- Remove Recharge tag.
- Rework effect to the following:
“An adjacent character must make an AGILITY save; larger targets always succeed. On a success, they are SLOWED and IMPAIRED until the end of their next turn. On a failure, they occupy the Torrent’s space and are engulfed and until they pass a HULL save as a full action, they stop occupying the Torrent’s space, the Torrent is JAMMED, STUNNED, overheated, or destroyed, or the Torrent uses this action again. While engulfed, the target is JAMMED and IMMOBILIZED and moves with the Torrent.”
Vulture
Vulture Stats
- Reduce HP from 14/17/20 to 12/15/18.
“Magpie” Subroutines
- Changed from Protocol to Quick Action.
- Added the ability to destroy a weapon or system carried by itself or a willing ally in order to activate.
- Added the option to repair a destroyed weapon or system as a benefit.
Magnet Bomb
- Moved from Base Systems to Optional Systems.
- Changed to grant Seeking on all weapon attacks against the target instead of simply ignoring cover.
Trash to Treasure
- Changed to reflect the changes to “Magpie” Subroutines.
Opportunistic Salvage
- Changed to reflect the changes to “Magpie” Subroutines.
Pinion Mine
- Removed.
Optional Rules
Actions
Aid
- New Optional Rule (thanks to Acatalepsy on PilotNET)! Spend a Quick Action to let an adjacent ally Stabilize as a Quick Action on their next turn, even if they’re Stunned.
Once Per Scene Brace
- New Optional Rule! Brace with no downsides against a wider variety of damage/heat sources, but only 1/scene. Sagarmatha and Drake get an extra Brace per scene to compensate.
- Add revised action to the LCP.
Area Search
- New Optional Rule! Allow Search to be performed against any Hidden characters within Sensors with a single quick action.
- Add revised action to the LCP.
Object Handling
- New Optional Rule(s)! Refine the existing Lifting and Dragging rules so that they can be used for Escort and Extraction Objectives!
- Add “Handle” action to the LCP.
Overcharge Rerolls
- Add revised “Overcharge (PPG)” action to LCP.
Structure, Stress, & Rests
One Reactor Stress for All
- Adjust so that characters only become Exposed and Overheated if they take Heat that would cause them to exceed their Heat Cap (like default Lancer).
- Change the energy damage inflicted from “AP” to “cannot be reduced.”
Extra Repairs
- New Optional Rule! Simple as giving everyone an Extra Repairs reserve. Grant frames like the Atlas, Kobold, and Death’s Head a little more longevity in case of catastrophic damage.
Forgiving Repairs
- New Optional Rule! Rebalance the Repair rules for rests to reduce costs to repair Structure, Stress, and multi-weapon mounts. Adjust Replaceable Parts to compensate.
Miscellaneous
Allied Arcing
- New Optional Rule! Reins in some of Arcing’s power by requiring an ally to “spot” for the Arcing user.
Heat Seeking
- New Optional Rule! Curtails the Seeking tag’s power by requiring prospective targets be in the DANGER ZONE to get full benefit of the tag.
NPC Rules
Recharge Heat
- Fix a typo for the Recharge Heat equation. The intended
Heat (Self)
value is equal toX – 3
, withRecharge 4/5/6+
yieldingHeat (Self) 1/2/3
, respectively. - Clarify that this Heat is only taken if the Recharge ability in question does not already have the
Heat (Self)
tag.
Weaker NPC Invades
- New Optional Rule! Simply reduce the amount of heat inflicted by NPC Quick Teck: Invade from 2 to 1. This is to account not only for lower PC heatcaps due to One Reactor Stress for All, but also for PCs’ lower heatcaps compared to NPCs. If this change is too impactful, I’ve also considered having NPC Invade either require the target to be in the Danger Zone, or become more potent if used against a target in the Danger Zone. Feedback welcome!
